$19.9 million budget approved for The Lynchburg Police Department

Lynchburg, Virginia – On Tuesday night meeting, the City Council approved $19.9 million budget for the Lynchburg Police Department.
The budget will be used for equipment and increase in salaries.
According to Chief Ryan Zuidema, the Department is always in need of resources.
“It’s critical, there’s always a greater need in the police department than there are resources available. We want to make sure we can provide a level of service to the community that they come to expect and that costs a lot of money unfortunately,” said Zuidema.
Five percent pay raise and three new positions for the department were also approved by the City Council.
