Authorities in Minnesota have said that a 12-year-old boy died after his uncle inadvertently shot him while the two were out hunting. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office claims in a press release that a 47-year-old man inadvertently shot his nephew when they were shooting squirrels on public property in Moose Lake Township.
According to the authorities, deputies and rescuers were the ones to provide first aid to the youngster, whose family members named him Jeremy Her. The kid was reportedly in “severe, life-threatening” condition when he was evacuated to a hospital in the Twin Cities. The sheriff’s office confirmed on Tuesday that the child had died from his injuries.
The sheriff’s office has said that the gunshot was most likely an accident, but they are still investigating the incident. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office will perform an autopsy at the arranged time.
On the GoFundMe page set up by the boy’s sister, she explains that “the doctor could not save his life due to the bullet hitting his spinal cord.”
“He was 12 years old and only had a few months before he turned 13,” she wrote. “We hope he is happy and safe where ever he is and we hope that he is with God now.”
